WHITCHURCH ANNUAL COMMUNITY AWARDS

These awards were the brain-child of the late Peter Pelling. His intention was to honour those who work for the good of the local community,or who inspire others by their achievements.  The first Ceremony was in 1994.

Peter’s wish was that the award should be “by the people, for the people of Whitchurch”.  This means that, although the Town Council administers the scheme, and organises the Ceremony, the nominees and subsequent recipients are decided by fellow residents of the Town.

The intention is to give a maximum of six awards each year, with at least one being a Youth Award. If there are more than six nominees,an independent committee is convened to make the difficult final decision.

Nominations do not have to be people known to all;who chair local charities,or provide recognised voluntary services, although these are obviously welcomed. They may simply be good neighbours – the choice is yours.

Please send your nominations in writing or by e-mail to:

Cathy Burt,Town Hall,Newbury Street,Whitchurch,Hampshire RG28 7DW.

whitchurchtowncouncil@whitchurch.hants.gov.uk

These should contain your name and contact details;the name, address and contact details of the person(s) you are nominating, with the reason why you believe they deserve an award, with as much detail/dates/lengths of service as you can possibly provide because these will be used to compose the citation read out on the evening of the Award Ceremony.  Thank you.
